In the month of March, Opolo Global Innovation, in partnership with Emerging Communities Africa through the Hernovate Initiative celebrated women across the globe on the International Women’s Day 2023, We held a virtual event themed “Building a Gender-Inclusive Innovation Ecosystem” where our attendees gained valuable insights into what it entails to be successful female entrepreneurs.
We were privileged to have Olumide Falana, Special Advisor (Gender), Ondo State, speak to us about harnessing the power of digital innovation for women entrepreneurs, along with panelists who discussed and shared their expertise and insights with us on “Building a Successful Business: The Intersection of Funding, Branding, and Collaboration”.
During the panel session, Kemi Martins, Founder and Senior Brand Strategist of Branddosh; Dolapo-Sanusi Ola, CEO, Nest Investment Limited; and Adedolapo Akinola, Vice President of Legal and company Sec, Kuda Microfinance Bank Limited, shared with us how businesses and organizations can build their brand and effectively communicate their values and mission through their branding efforts; common funding mistakes entrepreneurs make, how to avoid them, and some factors to consider when pursuing funding opportunities, while laying emphasis on the fact that funding opportunities are not the only opportunities female entrepreneurs should look out for when building their businesses.
The panelists also shared with us the importance of compliance with the legal and regulatory framework, as some entrepreneurs tend to leave out legal considerations when building their businesses. They stressed the importance of communication between entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment in beliefs, goals, and vision.
