  • Opolo Global Innovation at Collision 2024 in Toronto: Forging Global Partnerships and Driving Innovation

The participating team from Opolo Global Innovation led by its Chairman, Dr. Segun Aina, made significant strides at the 4 days Collision 2024 conference held in Toronto. This notable event, variously referred to as the largest North America’s technology conference, the best technology conference on the planet, world’s premier tech conference provided a unique platform for Opolo Global to showcase its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation, deepen existing partnerships while establishing new ones.

Collision 2024 brought together over 50,000 attendees from more than 130 countries, including industry leaders, innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs. Opolo Globals’ participation in this conference was an opportunity to highlight its mission of driving economic growth through innovation and collaboration. The event served as a melting pot for ideas and partnerships that can propel Nigeria and Africa into new areas of technological advancement.

The Opolo team engaged in strategic engagements with partners to create cross-border relationships and programs.

Leveraging Nigeria’s high-value talent exportation, particularly talents in the Opolo ecosystem, was the focus of the engagement with Mayor Patrick Brown of the City of Brampton. This engagement intends to provide opportunities for Nigerian talent to work in and gain from the global tech sector.

Another significant interaction was with the team from DELL Technology led by Mobolaji Sokunbi, Director, North America Small Business. Opolo Global had interesting discussions that may lead to potential collaborations with Dell Technology to support our startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs in Nigeria, facilitating technology adoption and innovation.

To collaborate and support events and programs that will empower and inspire black entrepreneurs and innovators, the team also engaged with the Black Innovation Zone, an organization comprising 10 different groups that supports black communities as well as with our dear friend- the enigmatic Sunil Sharma of Techstars-who was instrumental to bringing Collission to Canada since 2019- and Chris Greenfield MD of One-Eleven(Ontario Centre of Innovation).Through the integration of international best practices and the promotion of cross-border collaboration, these activities are expected to strengthen Opolo’s initiatives.

The goal to collaborate with impactful and result oriented showcase of startup cohorts coming out of the thirteen Opolo managed innovation hubs across Nigeria (seven of which are located in leading universities) at future Web Summit events in Lisbon Nov 2024, Doha Feb 2025 and Vancouver May  2025, a key priority of Opolo Global is on course. This partnership would be a huge step forward, benefiting Nigeria and Africa as a whole tremendously and establishing the continent as a center for talent and tech innovation and enterprise.
