In an inspiring initiative to equip young learners with essential digital skills, Opolo Global organized an engaging month-long training programme for schools in Ifetedo, Osun State, aimed at building the computer literacy needed for success in an increasingly technology-focused world. This effort reflects Opolo Global’s mission to prepare students for a future rich with opportunity by fostering practical, tech-based skills that support both academic success and career readiness.
The training focused on making technology accessible and comprehensible to students, many of whom were experiencing hands-on computer learning for the first time. Adeboye, the trainer from Opolo Global, designed a series of interactive lessons that covered foundational computer skills, such as basic operations, software applications, and safe internet navigation. Through a step-by-step approach, students learned to work confidently with various software tools, including word processing and presentation applications. Each lesson was designed to be both practical and interactive, providing a real-world perspective on how these skills can support students in their studies and, eventually, in their professional lives.
Facilitators encouraged a collaborative approach, giving participating students the opportunity to work in teams to complete assignments, solve practical problems, and share insights. This cooperative learning environment not only enhanced their learning but also fostered essential soft skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
A significant part of the training involved teaching safe internet practices, an essential component given the growing prevalence of online activities in both educational and social settings.
